Plant Care

Watering

Water once a week or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

Light

Bright indoor light or indirect sun. 6 hours to 8 hours

Temperature

Maintain temperatures between 18°C - 24°C. Avoid draughts as these can create undesirable temperature fluctuations. Consider giving your plant an occasional misting twice every week to maintain the optimum humidity level.

Fertilizer

Apply liquid fertilizer once in 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Indoor Plant Food.

Plant Bio

The Philodendron White Princess is extremely difficult to grow, which means that it is always very limited in availability. Just like with other variegated plants, the Philodendron White Princess also needs some extra love. The variegated parts of the leaf do not contain cholorphyll. Chlorophyll is the green leaf dye that plants use to capture light and convert it into chemical energy. That energy is used for photosynthesis. Because this Philodendron has variegated leaves, it produces less energy.

The White Princess Philodendron hybrid plant are very similar in appearance to the white knight philodendron. The difference in which is identifiable by the coloration of the plants stems. A dark pink/ purple stem variegation is the coloration of a white knight philodendron, whereas a green stem is that of the white princess.

White Princess prefer to be positioned in bright indirect light for best growth and require this to thrive. A sign your White Princess is getting too much light is the leaves constantly going yellow. A sign your plant is not getting enough light is your plant getting long and leggy. This can be resolved by changing the position of your plant to somewhere that better suits it’s light requirements.

Maintaining a medium to high humidity will assist in keeping your White Princess happy and healthy. If your plant is housed in a spot with a humidity level consistently outside of this range click here for tips on how to increase or decrease humidity levels.

You can expect your White Princess to require water when the top layer of soil is dry. When watering your White Princess, be sure to water thoroughly allowing water to drain completely. Aside from solely relying on the watering frequency to tell when your plant is thirsty, a tell tale sign that your White Princess needs water is drooping leaves. However, drooping leaves can also be a sign that the plant is getting too much water.

As a rule of thumb your White Princess should be fertilized monthly during spring and summer and every 6 to 8 weeks during fall and winter. This will assist in keeping your plant alive as well as promote healthy growth.
