Indirect sunlight, 6 to 8 hours
Maintain temperatures between 18°C - 24°C. Avoid draughts as these can create undesirable temperature fluctuations. Consider giving your plant an occasional misting twice every week to maintain the optimum humidity level.
Provide fertilizer once the first true leaves emerge. The first set of leaves that appear are known as the seed leaves. The second set of leaves are the first ‘true leaves,’ and a sign that your plant is getting mature and ready for serious growth. Dilute a balanced fertilizer to ¼ the strength recommended. Fertilize once in 2 weeks.
Product Bio
Moss Rose (Portulaca grandiflora), also known as Purslane, is a drought-tolerant annual that produces vibrant, colorful flowers. Here's how to sow and care for Moss Rose Mix Color seeds:
Timing and Location: Sow Moss Rose seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date in your area. Choose a location with full sun and well-draining soil.
Soil Preparation: Prepare the soil by loosening it to a depth of about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) and removing any debris. Moss Rose thrives in poor, sandy, or rocky soils, so avoid heavy clay soil. Incorporate some compost if necessary for better drainage.
Sowing: Scatter the Moss Rose Mix Color seeds over the soil surface and lightly press them into the soil. Space seeds about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) apart to allow for proper growth.
Moisture and Temperature: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination period, which typically takes 7-14 days. Moss Rose prefers warm temperatures and will germinate best in soil temperatures between 70-80°F (21-27°C).
Thinning: Once the seedlings emerge and develop their first set of true leaves, thin them to ensure proper spacing, leaving the strongest seedlings in place.
Care: Once established, Moss Rose requires minimal care. Water sparingly, as it is drought-tolerant and prefers dry conditions. Fertilization is generally not necessary, as Moss Rose thrives in poor soils. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming throughout the growing season.
By following these guidelines and providing proper care, you can enjoy a stunning display of colorful Moss Rose blooms in your garden or landscape.
