Plant Bio
Alocasia 'Dragon Scale' is a beautiful plant rarity that you can't take your eyes off of. Its delightful sagittal leaves are deceptively similar to the scales of some reptiles, and this resemblance is inspired by its variety name - Dragon Scale. The leaves are hard and leathery to the touch, and the blade is deeply carved with veins, creating a three-dimensional effect. In addition to the impressive texture, the leaves delight with an amazing green-gray color of varying intensity. The veins are clearly grooved and dark green in color, which creates a beautiful pattern on the leaf blade. There are lighter, greenish-gray contrasting spots between the dark lines of the nerves. The underside of the leaf is lighter in color and decorated with red veins. Alocasia 'Dragon Scale' grows moderately fast and grows up to 50 cm in height and similar width. It blooms with a small cola-like inflorescence, typical of picture plants. It works perfectly as a decoration for modern interiors, small rooms or as an ornament for a shelf or bookcase.
Alocasia care
Alocasia prefers fertile, humus, moderately moist, well-drained and drained soils. The site should be bright, but not exposed to direct sunlight. The plant feels best at a temperature of around 18-21 degrees C. He loves high air humidity, so it is necessary to gently sprinkle it with soft water. The plant cannot be poured or dried. In winter, watering should be significantly reduced. From spring to autumn, we feed the alocase every two weeks with fertilizer for plants with ornamental leaves. Younger plants are transplanted in spring each year, in older plants it is enough to replace the top layer of the substrate.
