Plant Care

Watering

During summer, Water daily or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. During Winter season water once in 2 days or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

Light

During summer season keep the plants in shaded area and during winter season plants can withstand direct/indirect light.

Temperature

During summer season or when the temperature is above 45°C place the plant in shaded area. During winter season or the when the temperature is below 45°C the plants can be directly placed in direct/indirect sunlight.

Fertilizer

Apply liquid fertilizer or slow release fertilizer once in 15 days. Always fertilizer the plants during the morning hours when the temperature is low. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Outdoor Plant Food / Flower Booster.

Plant Bio

Peltophorum pterocarpum, commonly known as Copperpod, Yellow Flamboyant, or Yellow Gulmohar, is a beautiful flowering tree native to tropical regions of Asia. Here's a description and care guide for Peltophorum pterocarpum:

Description:

Peltophorum pterocarpum is a medium to large-sized deciduous tree that can reach heights of up to 20-25 meters (65-80 feet) when mature.
The tree is characterized by its spreading canopy and distinctive foliage. The leaves are compound, with numerous small leaflets arranged in a feather-like pattern.
One of the most striking features of Peltophorum pterocarpum is its vibrant yellow flowers, which typically appear in large clusters during the spring and summer months.
The flowers are followed by flat, brown pods that contain seeds. These pods add further ornamental interest to the tree's appearance.

Care Tips:

Sunlight: Peltophorum pterocarpum thrives in full sun and requires at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily to bloom profusely and maintain healthy growth.
Temperature: This tree is well-suited to tropical and subtropical climates and is tolerant of high temperatures. It is not frost-tolerant and may suffer damage if exposed to temperatures below freezing.
Watering: While Peltophorum pterocarpum is relatively drought-tolerant once established, it benefits from regular watering, especially during periods of dry weather. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
Soil: Plant Peltophorum pterocarpum in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. It can tolerate a wide range of soil types, including sandy or loamy soils, as long as they are well-draining.
Fertilization: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for flowering trees in spring, just before the onset of new growth. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates and frequency.
Pruning: Prune Peltophorum pterocarpum as needed to maintain its desired shape and size, remove dead or diseased branches, and promote airflow within the canopy. Pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as wood chips or shredded bark, around the base of the tree to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. Keep the mulch several inches away from the trunk to prevent rotting.
Pest and Disease Control: While Peltophorum pterocarpum is relatively resistant to pests and diseases, it may occasionally be affected by issues such as scale insects, aphids, or fungal diseases. Monitor the tree regularly and treat any problems promptly with appropriate insecticides or fungicides.

By providing proper care, Peltophorum pterocarpum can thrive and grace your landscape with its stunning yellow flowers and attractive foliage, adding beauty and charm to your outdoor space.
