Cut Flower Care Tips

Like most people, you probably enjoy having fresh-cut flowers in your home. They add a touch of elegance and beauty to any room. So, of course, when you bring home a bouquet of fresh-cut flowers, you want to enjoy them for as long as possible. With a little care, you can extend the life of your flowers. Here are some tips for prepping cut flowers:

1. Start with clean vases. Make sure your vases are clean and free of any residue that could shorten the life of your flowers.

2. Fill vases with fresh, clean water. Flowers will drink a lot of water, so make sure to fill the vase to the top.

3. Add a floral preservative. This will help your flowers last longer by providing nutrients and preventing bacteria growth.

4. Trim the stems. Use a sharp knife or shear to trim about an inch off the bottom of the stem at a 45-degree angle. This will help the flowers absorb more water.

5. Arrange your flowers. Get creative and have fun arranging your flowers in the vase. With these tips, you can enjoy your fresh-cut flowers for longer.

6. Remove any dead or dying flowers. Not only will this help keep your arrangement looking nice, but it will also help prevent the spread of bacteria to the other flowers.

7. Keep your flowers out of direct sunlight. Too much sun can cause the flowers to wilt and fade quickly.
