Plant Care

Watering

During summer, Water daily or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. During Winter season water once in 2 days or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

Light

Bright indoor light or indirect sun. 6 hours to 8 hours

Temperature

Maintain temperatures between 18°C - 24°C. Avoid draughts as these can create undesirable temperature fluctuations. Consider giving your plant an occasional misting twice every week to maintain the optimum humidity level.

Fertilizer

Apply liquid fertilizer once in 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Indoor Plant Food.

Plant Bio

Known as the “wax plant” or “wax flower plant”, Hoya has been enjoyed for decades, perhaps because fanciers enjoy their easy-going as a houseplant indoor dispositions. Native to southern India, highly prized, and the subject of legend. You’ll find Hoyas throughout eastern Asia to Australia and classified botanically in the Asclepias (milkweed) family.

Hoyas need bright, natural light to do their best. Place it by the sun-facing window in your space. Rotate it every couple of months so it gets the light evenly all the way around. Just keep it away from hot, sunny windows & direct afternoon sun.

A Hoya plant needs soil that is rich, aerated and drains well. Create an organic soil mix that really helps Hoyas prosper and grow. It is made from organic potting soil, compost, and fine fir bark. The Hoya likes to be fed with fertilizer. Use liquid fertilizer to feed your Hoyas about once a month. During the spring and summer, these plants crave water, and they need quite a bit of it to remain hydrated. Water the plant thoroughly, and as long as the pot that it is planted in is a container that drains well, then you shouldn’t need to water it again for about two weeks. Test the top of the soil, if it is dry, the Hoyas need watered again. If the soil is still moist, then you can wait a bit longer to give the plant more water. During the winter months, you can cut back on watering the plant. Since it is in a semi-dormant state, the Hoyas can most likely be watered once a month. These beautiful flowers are tropical plants, so you do not want to keep them in extremely cool temperatures.
