Plant Care

Watering

Water once a week or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

Light

Bright indoor light or indirect sun. 6 hours to 8 hours

Temperature

Maintain temperatures between 18°C - 24°C. Avoid draughts as these can create undesirable temperature fluctuations. Consider giving your plant an occasional misting twice every week to maintain the optimum humidity level.

Fertilizer

Apply liquid fertilizer once in 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Indoor Plant Food.

Plant Bio

If ever there was the perfect plant for the ultimate brown thumb, the easy Zamia plant is it. This virtually indestructible houseplant can take months and months of neglect and low light and still look amazing. Previously, the Zamia plant would only be found in planters in malls and large office buildings where they would frequently be mistaken for fake plants, partially because they needed so little care and always looked healthy. But in recent years, they have found their way onto the shelves of both big box and hardware stores where anyone can purchase one. This has led to many people wondering how to grow Zamia plants. The short answer is that it takes very little effort.

What makes the ZZ plant so popular among interior landscaping, around offices, buildings and homes is the ease of care that they need. Their very makeup is such that they do well in areas with low light and their maintenance is very easy. Although it does not require daily watering, you still have to water it. Pay attention to it and make sure that you are not starving it to death. Although it does not require a lot of light, it does require some, so don’t put it in a room that is rarely used or has no light. The ZZ plant does not need any special type of potting soil or potting mix. Any well-drained soil recommended for houseplants will work. As for the fertilizer requirements. A complete, balanced liquid fertilizer for houseplants (20-20-20) applied once per month when watering will provide the nutrients the ZZ needs.

All parts of this plant are poisonous so keep away from children and pets and wash your hands after you've touched her leaves.
