Plant Care

During summer, Water daily or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. During Winter season water once in 2 days or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

During summer season keep the plants in shaded area and during winter season plants can withstand direct/indirect light.

During summer season or when the temperature is above 45°C place the plant in shaded area. During winter season or the when the temperature is below 45°C the plants can be directly placed in direct/indirect sunlight.

Apply liquid fertilizer or slow release fertilizer once in 15 days. Always fertilizer the plants during the morning hours when the temperature is low. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Outdoor Plant Food / Flower Booster.

Plant Bio

Clerodendrum inerme, commonly known as the Bridal Veil or Wild Jasmine, is a flowering shrub that belongs to the Lamiaceae family. Native to tropical regions of Asia and Africa, this plant is known for its clusters of delicate and fragrant white flowers. Here's a description and care guide for Clerodendrum inerme:

Leaves: The leaves of Clerodendrum inerme are simple, opposite, and oval to lance-shaped. They are medium green in color and have a glossy texture. The leaves are arranged along the stems in pairs.
Flowers: The flowers are small, tubular, and fragrant, with white petals and long, protruding stamens. The flowers are clustered in showy terminal panicles that resemble cascading bridal veils, giving the plant its common name.
Growth Habit: Clerodendrum inerme is a relatively small shrub that can reach a height of about 3 to 6 feet (1 to 2 meters). It has an open and airy growth habit with arching branches.
Fruits: After flowering, the plant may produce small, berry-like fruits that turn from green to black as they mature. These fruits are not typically the main attraction of the plant.

Sunlight: Clerodendrum inerme thrives in full sun to partial shade. It prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate some direct sunlight as well.

Climate: This shrub is best suited for tropical and subtropical climates. It prefers warm temperatures and is not tolerant of frost. It's suitable for USDA hardiness zones 9 and above.

Soil: Use well-draining soil that retains moisture. A mixture of regular potting soil with some organic matter works well. Good drainage is important to prevent waterlogged roots.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant thoroughly when the top inch (2.5 cm) of soil feels dry. During hot and dry periods, you may need to water more frequently.

Fertilization: Feed Clerodendrum inerme with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Follow the package instructions for application rates.

Pruning: Prune the shrub to remove dead or diseased branches, shape the plant, and promote new growth. Regular pruning can also help maintain an attractive form.

Propagation: Clerodendrum inerme can be propagated from seeds, stem cuttings, or by layering. Seeds should be sown in well-draining soil and kept consistently moist until germination occurs.

Pests and Diseases: While this shrub is generally quite resilient, it may be susceptible to pests such as aphids, mealybugs, and whiteflies. Regularly inspect the leaves and stems for any signs of infestation and treat as needed.

Clerodendrum inerme is a charming and fragrant shrub that can add a touch of elegance and beauty to your garden or landscape. With proper care, including suitable light, watering, and maintenance, your Bridal Veil plant can thrive and become a lovely focal point in your outdoor space.
